On August 2, 2015, Rayados de Monterrey unveiled their home: Estadio BBVA. For a night that also celebrated the club’s 70th anniversary, the opening had to live up to the moment, and Pyrotech produced the pyrotechnic show that crowned it in front of more than 50,000 people.

The challenge

Open one of the most modern stadiums in the world with a ceremony “worthy of a World Cup,” in a large open venue, with the safety and logistics a full house demands.

What we produced

A pyrotechnic show designed for the scale of the stadium: synchronized effects from the structure and the pitch that wrapped the crowd at the moment of opening, before the ball rolled for the first time (Rayados 3-0 Benfica, for the Eusébio Cup).

Why it worked

  • Equal to the moment: a home fans waited 70 years for deserved an unforgettable inauguration.
  • Stadium scale: design and firing built for a venue of more than 50,000 spectators.
  • Safety and logistics coordinated for a high-profile mass event.
