Respuesta corta
On August 2, 2015 Rayados de Monterrey opened Estadio BBVA with a show before more than 53,000 fans, closing a 70-year wait for a home of their own. The production had to match a 200-million-dollar venue and a match against Benfica.

On August 2, 2015, Rayados de Monterrey opened Estadio BBVA. It wasn’t just opening a stadium: it was the end of a 70-year wait for the club to finally have a home of its own. That’s why that night couldn’t be just another match; it had to be a moment people would remember forever.
Seventy years waiting for a home
Monterrey was founded in 1945. For seven decades, its fans lived their passion on borrowed pitches. Opening Estadio BBVA meant closing that chapter: finally having a place that was theirs, built for them. When a wait lasts that long, the payoff carries the weight of all that history, and the celebration has to match it.
A stadium built to move people
The new venue was no ordinary one. Designed by the international firm Populous, with an investment of around US$200 million and capacity for more than 53,000 fans, it was born as one of the most modern stadiums in the world, framed by the Cerro de la Silla mountain. A stage like that called for an inauguration to match.
The night
The club organized a ceremony described as “worthy of an Olympic Games or a World Cup,” which also celebrated the club’s 70th anniversary. On the pitch, Rayados beat Benfica 3-0 and lifted the Eusébio Cup, played for the first time outside Portugal. And there was a perfect detail for the script: the first goal in the stadium’s history was scored by a youth-academy player, César Montes, as if the new home was christened from within.
Why a moment like this deserves a great show
Great moments don’t repeat. An inauguration, an anniversary, the debut of a home awaited a lifetime: these are one-time instants, and people remember them by how they felt. That’s where a well-produced show stops being “decoration” and becomes part of the memory: the glow, the sound and the emotion that turn a date into a story told for years.
At Pyrotech, that’s what we live for: designing the peak moment so it lives up to what it means. Because when something happens only once, it has to be perfect.
